Founder, Director, and Principal Consultant of Bioluminaire. Julie is a human geneticist and genomics scientist with experience spanning academic research and drug discovery in a large pharmaceutical setting. Her work centres on understanding how genetic variation shapes human disease.

She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford where she specialized in understanding the genetic and epigenetic landscape of immune-mediated disorders using functional genomics approaches including, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and multi-omics profiling.

She then spent 5 years at GSK  in Human Genetics and Genomics. There, she led genetics-based target identification and validation across immune-mediated disorders, osteoarthritis, and interstitial lung diseases, translating large-scale human genetic evidence into actionable drug discovery projects.

Through this experience, she has developed a strong foundation, not only in scientific analysis, but also in medical and scientific writing, critical data evaluation, and stakeholder-focused communication. She has published in Nature Genetics, Cell Genomics, and Scientific Reports, and is passionate about making our lives better through scientific discovery.
